    תָּרַע(denom. of תְּרוּעָה), Hif. הִתְרִיעַ to sound alarm, esp. to blow the Shofar at public services (at fast and prayer meetings). Y.Taan.II, 65b top כל שנה שאין מַתְרִיעִין … שמתריעין לה בסופה if people neglect to blow the Shofar at the beginning of the year, they will sound it at the end, v. רוּעַ I.
